The true test of leadership is not looking around and seeing if people are following us today, "Liking" our posts, or "following us" on social media. True leadership is measured by what happens after we leave? Think about it -- the best leaders are actually no longer with us. Sobering thought for all of us seeking leadership roles.

Earlier in my life, I would define myself as a "basketball player". LIke many aspiring athletes I spent many hours mentally and physically practicing hitting the "big shot" to win the game.

Looking back, some shots fell, others fell a little short. And it's been a while since I've hit a three pointer, and even longer since I've dunked a basketball, but that doesn't mean there are not pressure situations now that I am a husband, father and business owner.

It struck fear into my heart -- because I realized that they had learned that remark from me!

It's easy to rule over people when you can just cut their head off, right? Well, maybe, but apparently that was not the way of this Roman leader.

Be careful to not let others tell you what your work is worth. If God has given you work to do -- press on.
